Is there a detriment to posting an event and then changing it multiple times?  (with notification to the people you invited)

I say, yes.

Have you dropped a person or a page for making too many updates to their events? I have. Especially a nuisance when trying to work and getting a bunch of "junk" notifications.

Somewhat related – here's a nice article on bringing live-Tweets to your events. Having tweets at your event is a great way to build more excitement  around your event, help you, the audience and outsiders learn what people are most excited to tweet about and if everything is going well, these tweets will be on-message and will act as viral marketing for your next event.
