Adobe Indesign: How to get rid of all guides (since there is not a "clear all guides" in the menu.)

Love this shortcut – but I still wish it were in the menu somewhere.

Select & delete all guides at once in Adobe InDesign
If you’ve ever received an Adobe InDesign file from another designer or client that you need to work on, and upon opening found the document pages absolutely covered with useless Guides (Don’t you jus…

Cool! Yea – I go both ways :)

I'm just more familiar with Quark than I am with InDesign, so these little details that I used to know from Quark are just things I have to pick up and remember with InDesign.

I love key commands, but since I learn visually, things are always better if they're anchored in the menu, you know?

  7. Oh very cool Jean! Actually I first used PageMaker are you familiar with PageMaker? then I used a lot of Quark too. But the last several years it seems there was less and less demand to use Quark.

InDesign is pretty cool and has a lot of features that I normally don't use. But I do enjoy using it.

I think I'm kinda like you in that I use a combination of shortcut key commands and GUI menu.

What are u you using? CS6?

I can use any application within the Adobe Master Collection but I am always looking to improve my skillset because with InDesign as well as other application I tend to get comfortable at times going about how I do things and perhaps there might be a more efficient way to accomplish something. Thus, I admit that there is always something new to learn :-)

Hehe – yes! Awesome, Stephen. I feel like I knew 90% of Quark (when the industry used it) and only about 40% of InDesign – but I don't tend to do as much print production these days, so I'm not as compelled to learn all of the nuances of InDesign that I needed to learn for Quark back in the day :)

Ahaha – yes, Pagemaker! I first used PageMaker when I was in college and had a hard time convincing prospective employers that I could learn Quark. I eventually was hired by someone who believed I could do it without wasting their time :)

I've been using CS3 and have been hesitating to upgrade because the only somewhat compelling reason to upgrade has been a few Illustrator files that have been sent my way that I cannot open in my version. Not enough to upgrade, you know?

However… there is another very compelling reason for me to upgrade: I'm extremely curious about Adobe Edge Animate. Have you played with that at all? I just need a project to force me to do it, hehe!

  11. for the most part I am on the web but I do print stuff too.

I have not used Edge yet but I have glanced at it. I looks very fun and looks like a cross between Flash and Premiere and I would have a blast with it and I have done a lot of Flash animation and I also work with a lot of video editing (Premiere and Final Cut)

  19. Hi Jean,
I do not have Final Cut at home but yes I have used it on and off for about 5 years now.

Premiere is pretty cool you would probably adapt fairly quick The GUI is slightly different but the concept is the same its basically the same thing with projects / timeline and layers, What is cool though is that the whole Adobe suite plays nicely together as they have put a good effort into integration so you can import Photoshop files and layers etc

Sounds cool. Hopefully one of these days I'll get the full updated suite and get to play with Premiere as well as Edge :)

  23. whew! that is one pretty penny LOL! one thing that disappoints me as how much the Adobe products cost. They are just as bad as Apple but then they will roll out a new revision almost every year so its a crying shame home much it costs.

You do know that the now have the Creative Cloud now? So you can now go and get a 1 month license off the cloud for I think all of the products…

I'm not quite convinced of the value of the cloud. It's a great way for them to make loads of money continually, though! :) hehe!
